Tracks Brazilian Jiu Jitsu started with the guidance of Mark Mortensen, with the vision to create a safe & friendly atmosphere to train the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Tracks strives to give it’s students a place to learn self defense, get in better shape and also train in a competitive environment. We help our students to achieve goals whether it’s for competition or building self confidence. Mark Mortensen
Mark Mortensen
Mark is a first degree Black Belt under fourth degree Black Belt Raphael Simpson. Mark has coached students for a number of years, both for competition and self-improvement.
He has a long history of high-level achievement, including coaching multiple people to silver and golds at the Worlds and Senior Master Worlds and numerous other competitions with major success. Mark has over 15 years of training and has competed at the highest level earning gold at the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships. Mark is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force who regularly is involved with outreach programs designed to help our men in uniform and those who have served.
Tod Arechiga
Tod Arechiga
Tod is a Yamasaki Black Belt under Mario and Fernando Yamasaki. He is a retired Washington DC Police officer who served over 26 years.
Tod started learning Judo at age 12 from books and at age 13 he was boxing out of the Mexican American Boxing gym in St Paul. At 15 trained in American Kickboxing. At 26 joined the police dept and learned defensive tactics. Member of an active shooter team and riot squad. Tod has trained World medalists, Naga Champions, Wrestling State Champions, Big Ten Wrestlers and numerous kids who have received Golds at the Pans. Trained women in self defense and taught in aggressive armed conflict shooting courses.
Dennis Lo
Dennis Lo
Dennis is a Black Belt under Raphael Simpson and has been training with Mark Mortensen for well over 14 years.
He is a teacher by day and one of the best instructors one could ask for in any jiu jitsu gym. Dennis has trained under many systems (Pedro Sauer, Gracie Barra, and DNA Jiu Jitsu) which has given him a very well rounded approach to the art of BJJ. His students have on many occasion gave the best of reviews that one could ask for.
Jerry Byrne
Jerry Byrne
Jerry is currently a Black Belt with Tracks BJJ and has a very steady hand at jiu jitsu…meaning he is one tough cookie!

It is always a pleasure for all when Jerry stands in and teaches a class. You can always plan on some really great cardio and many helpful tips in the area of technique.

Shawn Monte
Shawn Monte
Shawn is currently a Brown Belt and has trained in many areas of the United States due to his work and travels.

He is also a Brown Belt in Judo as well giving his input in the takedown department on many occasions.

Matt Merritt
Matt Merritt
Matt is a Purple Belt who has trained with Mark since his White Belt. He has earned a silver medal in both the Worlds and Pans.

He has also won other tournaments to include many Absolutes. He is an excellent coach and specializes in the corner of all who compete. Matt also has refereed at numerous tournaments.
